About

Lake Region & Fryeburg Area Adult Education & Training is your local hub for academic and workforce skills preparation. We offer you the support that you need to enter college and/or employment. We can help you attain a high school equivalency or diploma, improve your reading, writing, and math skills for college or a job, and offer targeted training to prepare you for career opportunities.

Our hybrid model of delivery allows for one-on-one, remote, and virtual instruction options with qualified and dedicated instructors, making it possible for you to reach your goals even when transportation or child care needs arise. Our basic programming is of no cost to you as we are State and Federally funded.

Our Programs

    High School Equivalency

    Our High School Equivalency program offers the opportunity to attain a High School Equivalency Diploma with passing scores on the HiSET® test. Join our engaging and supportive program where we prioritize individualized academic success.

    With open enrollment, flexible scheduling, and personalized instruction, we tailor our approach to meet your unique needs. By successfully passing exams in Writing, Social Studies, Science, Reading, and Math, you can earn a HISET. Best of all, our program is provided at no cost in Maine!

    Diploma Program

    We offer a high school diploma program for adults. Take classes in a variety of subjects and build your skills as you prepare for your next steps—whether that’s college, a training program, or the modern workforce. At intake, our experienced academic team will review your previous high school transcript(s) to see what credits you already have and determine what you’ll need to complete in order to earn your diploma.

    Maine College and Career Access Program

    If you want to go to college or enroll in postsecondary training, and need some support, we can help. Our Maine College and Career Access (MCCA) programming is designed to help you build the skills and confidence you will need to be successful in in workforce training and college.

    We offer individualized college and career advising to help you create a pathway plan that is right for you. Our advisors can guide you in identifying your career interests and help you as you take each step toward achieving your goals.

    • Receive assistance in the college application process

    • Receive ongoing support through your first semester of college

    • Take the World of Work Inventory (WOWI) career assessment

    Workforce Training & Preparation

    For individuals seeking training and support we strive to provide you with what you need. We partner with local employers to provide certifications and work-site training programs in an array of industries such as banking, the medical field, and real estate. We also offer training and certification in Adult American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED training, MSAD 61 substitute teaching, and more.

    We offer work readiness skills workshops to support the pathway to employment.

    Community Enrichment

    Our community enrichment program is a collection of home, hobby and work-related classes led by local residents. Our instructors offer classes and workshops in diverse areas where they are trained or skilled. We offer courses in health and wellness, the arts and crafts, music and dance, cooking and nutrition, computers and technology, outdoor recreation, and more. Through this engaging program, we bring people in our community together.
